Getting Started

Moonlight Blade Beginner Guide

Everything a new player needs: character creation, school selection, main story progression, leveling routes and early gearing. Get from level 1 to endgame content smoothly.

Moonlight Blade is an open-world wuxia MMORPG where you join one of the classic martial arts schools, progress through a cinematic main story, and gradually unlock identity professions, dungeons, PvP and life skills. This guide walks you through the critical first steps so you don't waste resources early on.

1

Create Your Character and Choose an Identity

Customize your character's appearance with the detailed creation system, and note that your personality answers during the opening questionnaire flavor some story interactions. Appearance can be adjusted later with in-game items, so don't stress over the initial look.

2

Pick Your School (Class)

Early on you follow the main story before formally joining a school such as Taibai, Tianxiang, Shenwei, Tangmen, Gaibang, Zhenwu or Wudu. Melee lovers can pick Taibai or Shenwei, support players Tianxiang, ranged players Tangmen, and technical players Wudu. Your choice shapes your role in dungeons and PvP.

3

Follow the Main Story Quests

The main storyline is your primary source of experience in the early levels and unlocks most systems: dungeons, identity professions, guilds and PvP. Prioritize main quests over side content until around level 30-40, when daily activities become worthwhile.

4

Unlock and Level an Identity Profession

At the appropriate story point you can choose an identity such as Hunter, Musician, Chef, Escort/Guard or Doctor. Identities provide passive stats, income and unique gameplay. Chefs and Doctors are beginner-friendly for steady silver and team utility.

5

Run Daily Dungeons and Activities

Once unlocked, complete daily dungeon runs, guild missions and events daily — they are the main source of enhancement materials, gear and currency. Spend your fatigue/entry attempts every day even if you can only play briefly.

6

Gear Up and Manage Resources

Equip blue and purple gear from quests and dungeons, refine weapons first for damage, and save bound points for value packs rather than random draws. Join a guild early for extra rewards, buffs and a community to run group content with.

Tier List

Moonlight Blade Class Tier List

Class rankings for PVE and PVP based on overall performance, utility and difficulty. Rankings shift with balance patches, so check back after major updates.

This tier list evaluates each school across group PVE (dungeons and raids) and PVP (arena and open-world battles). Keep in mind that player skill matters a great deal in Moonlight Blade — a well-played B-tier class can outperform a poorly-played S-tier one, and all classes clear standard content comfortably.

S

Cornerstone classes for group content; almost always in demand for endgame dungeons.

Tianxiang

Healer / Support

PVE: S — indispensable healer and team buffer for endgame dungeons

PVP: A — strong sustain and control in group fights

Shenwei

Tank / Bruiser

PVE: S — best tank, high demand for raid content

PVP: A — dominant in open-world and group PVP

A

Strong all-around picks that excel in most content with good piloting.

Taibai

Melee DPS

PVE: A — fast, consistent burst damage

PVP: A — excellent 1v1 duelist with strong combos

Zhenwu

PVE: A — good sustained damage and crowd control

PVP: S — notorious lockdown and burst in arena

Tangmen

Ranged DPS

PVE: A — safe ranged output with traps and mechanisms

PVP: B+ — strong when kept at range, vulnerable when caught

B

More specialized classes: extremely rewarding for experienced players, less forgiving for beginners.

Gaibang

Melee Bruiser

PVE: B — solid damage but overshadowed by Taibai

PVP: A — sticky, brawly playstyle that thrives in chaotic fights

Wudu

Assassin / Melee DPS

PVE: B — high skill ceiling, situational damage

PVP: S in the right hands — stealth bursts delete squishy targets

Moonlight Blade Builds Guide

Mainstream builds and character-development paths for every school — mind methods, bian stones, gear affixes, meridian point allocation, and PVE vs PVP directions.

Character strength in Moonlight Blade comes from several stacked systems: Mind Methods (心法), Bian Stones (砭石), gear affixes and refinement, and Meridian (经脉) point allocation. Below are proven build directions for the game's iconic schools, covering both PVE group content and PVP arenas.

Tai Chi (太白)

Melee Burst DPS

PVE Build

Mind Methods: Forsake the Ancients + Thunderclap to maximize sword-qi burst windows; bian stones with Attack and Penetration; meridian points into attack power and crit.

PVP Build

Swap one DPS method for Root of All Evil or a control-reduction method; stack hit rating and crit resistance; affixes prioritize Agility and attack speed.

Tai Chi relies on combo timing — practice the Jian Yu (sword rain) chain in training grounds before ranked duels.

Shen Wei (神威)

Tank / Bruiser

PVE Build

Mind Methods: Guide of the Brave + defensive methods for aggro and survivability; bian stones with HP and Block; meridians into HP and defense.

PVP Build

Hybrid bruiser build with attack-HP affixes; use the pull and knock-up skills to create openings for teammates in 3v3.

Maintain the block stance rotation to soak boss mechanics and protect healers in raids.

Tian Xiang (天香)

Healer / Support

PVE Build

Mind Methods: Golden Needle + healing amplifier methods; bian stones with Healing Effect and Internal Defense; meridians into support stats.

PVP Build

Split healing and control build — use umbrella knock-backs and sleep to disrupt enemies while keeping allies topped up.

Positioning is everything: stay at max heal range and pre-cast shields before boss AoE phases.

Tang Men (唐门)

Ranged DPS / Trapper

PVE Build

Mind Methods: Nine Palaces + crit methods for sustained ranged damage; bian stones with Attack and Crit; meridians into precision and attack.

PVP Build

Trap-control build with Poison and hidden-weapon burst; affixes on crit and movement to kite melee.

Drop traps at choke points before engagements and save the stealth burst for low-HP targets.

Zhen Wu (真武)

Sustained Melee DPS

PVE Build

Mind Methods: heavy blade methods with attack and internal-defense balance; bian stones with Attack and HP; meridians split between attack and survival.

PVP Build

Counter-stance build punishing enemy attacks with parry chains; affixes on crit damage and damage reduction.

True strength comes from stance switching — learn which skills are safe to cancel into parries.

Gai Bang (丐帮)

Melee Control / Bruiser

PVE Build

Mind Methods with attack and team-buff focus; bian stones with Attack and Block; meridians into attack and HP.

PVP Build

Grab-and-lockdown build — chain throws and stuns to isolate a single target in arena.

The dragon-stance grab ignores many mobility skills; use it to punish enemy dashes.
